At the end of the last century we opened our online design store (Zoxx) including a vast collection of items designed by the world-famous Pininfarina studios: writing instruments, leather goods, etc. In 2005, it was decided that production of all these products was cancelled. Since then, they are NO LONGER available. We were lucky that we had a large stock stuffed with the most beautiful Pininfarina Extradesign items you can imagine, and still there are items for sale from this stock. Pininfarina - Italian design at it's very best
Since its foundation in 1930, and for a long time afterwards, Pininfarina based its activities on the construction of special automobile bodywork, producing unique models, or only a very limited number of each model. To compete with the production of standard cars, these unique models had to excel in both design and performance.
With the advent of mass production, Pininfarina adapted its structure and technology to that required by the times. This step was necessary to cope with the continuously expanding market which has placed car-ownership within the reach of an increasing number of people. Because of this transition, at the beginning of the 50s, Pininfarina started collaborating with international automobile producers to enable it to use not only its design resources but also its engineering and productive ability in the realization of small automobiles, known as "niche vehicles". So the relation ship was forged between Pininfarina and Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Peugeot and Ferrari, a successful rapport which continues up to the present day.
In 1961, by decree of the President of Italy, the name Farina was changed to Pininfarina, and as result the company name became "Carrozzeria Pininfarina" (Pininfarina Bodyworks). Today Pininfarina is an industrial group with over 2700 employees, producing about 50.000 items a year, with a turnover of about 1300 billion lire.
